Off To The Hospital...

>> Monday, February 13, 2012

Today is my schedule C-Section surgery so hubby and I will be heading to the hospital today. I am nervous and at the same time excited to see and hold my baby boy. Ihope and pray that everything will be fine.

I may take a month long (or more) blogging hiatus because I know I will need time to recover from the C-section. But most of all, I need time to bond with my baby and to adjust to my new life as a new mom.

Sweet & Sour Pork Meatballs...

>> Saturday, February 11, 2012

This is my first time cooking this dish. I am so glad it turned out perfect! I used to always eat this when I was still in the Philippines because my father always make this and he's the best cook ever. I had the cravings for it and I wanted to try if I can make/cook them myself. And when I did, and hubby liked it, I was very happy.

It was quite simple actually. All I did was mix 1 lb. of ground pork with finely chopped garlic, onion, bell pepper and salt & pepper. I also added 1 egg (beaten) and 2 tbsp of cornstarch to hold them together. Then once they are mixed up well, I formed them into balls. Then I just fried them until they nice and brown. Put them aside and drain in paper towels while making the sweet and sour sauce.

For the sauce, I sauteed some garlic and onion strips followed by the carrots and green bell pepper. Then put some ketchup, sugar, a little bit of vinegar and some pineapple tidbits with the juice in it. That's just to add some extra flavor.I also added 2 tsp. of cornstarch to thicken the sauce a little bit.  Let it boil then add the pork meatballs. Let it simmer for a few minutes then add salt and pepper to taste. That's it! So simple, eh?

Yoyos...

I was just talking to my brother and sister in the Philippines a while ago. I'm just seeing how they're doing these days. We talked for quite a while and even reminisce our childhood days. growing up we were very close even though we fight sometimes. We are also close in age so that helped us bond and enjoy each other company. I remember we used to have the same toys and one in particular was our yoyos. I got me a red one, my sister got an orange one while my brother got a green one. It was fun playing with them until, of course, we broke them. So our parents had to buy us 3 more to replace the broken ones. Ah, children..

Beggin'...

>> Thursday, February 9, 2012

That's Abbie's begging face! If she wants something, she would be staring at you for a long time then she will wag her cute little tail. This time, she sported her beggin' face while we are playing our computer games. Apparently, she just wants to eat and when I went to our living room, I found out that her food bowl was empty already. She wanted more food!

Discount Blu-Ray Movies...

>> Tuesday, February 7, 2012

My friend and her son went grocery shopping the other day. She said they got lucky because they found a lot of discount blu ray movies in the store. It made her son very happy since he got a lot of movies that he liked. I wished I can find the same good deals too so I can get some for my own entertainment. I know some of these Blu-Ray movies are very expensive especially the new releases.

Dowel Pins...

It's warming up in here so hubby is doing some cleaning and organizing in our basement garage. He wanted to organize his tools and to do that, he needs to fix an old cabinet. Unfortunately, it's kinda messed up and he can't find some dowel pins he needs to have it working. Fortunately, I saved some extra dowel pins we have when we were assembling our baby's room furniture. So I saved the day for hubby and he was able to fix the old cabinet and organize his tools.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts...

I know these may not be good for me but I guess it won't be so bad if I only eat them once in a while. We were out to another city to have our Persian rugs cleaned and we passed by Krispy Kreme on our way home. Hubby said doughnuts sound yummy and I agreed so we stopped by and got a dozen of them.

We went inside so I can picked what I want to get. There was nobody there but us so I took my time. I got me some lemon, blueberry, and raspberry-filled ones while hubby got the one with choco glaze.
