This is my first time cooking this dish. I am so glad it turned out perfect! I used to always eat this when I was still in the Philippines because my father always make this and he's the best cook ever. I had the cravings for it and I wanted to try if I can make/cook them myself. And when I did, and hubby liked it, I was very happy.
It was quite simple actually. All I did was mix 1 lb. of ground pork with finely chopped garlic, onion, bell pepper and salt & pepper. I also added 1 egg (beaten) and 2 tbsp of cornstarch to hold them together. Then once they are mixed up well, I formed them into balls. Then I just fried them until they nice and brown. Put them aside and drain in paper towels while making the sweet and sour sauce.
For the sauce, I sauteed some garlic and onion strips followed by the carrots and green bell pepper. Then put some ketchup, sugar, a little bit of vinegar and some pineapple tidbits with the juice in it. That's just to add some extra flavor.I also added 2 tsp. of cornstarch to thicken the sauce a little bit. Let it boil then add the pork meatballs. Let it simmer for a few minutes then add salt and pepper to taste. That's it! So simple, eh?
