New Year Means New Goals...

>> Monday, December 27, 2010

New year 2011 will mean new goals for us. We are actually planning to go to California and hubby is currently looking for better job opportunities there. As for me, I have my own goals too. One is for me to really get serious in learning how to drive so I can do things that I want to do. I am also hoping I can go to school; either online or in-campus, to get some certificate/ course that I can use in finding a good job one of these days. Hubby suggested I take some kind of IT course because he said IT Jobs are currently in demand nowadays. Hopefully God will help us reach our goals for the new year ahead.

Black & Mild...

Hubby love to smoke his expensive cigars from time to time. I don't what it is but I think more than a few men love to do this too. I thought it's only in the movies. LOL! I actually though of buying a couple of boxes of Black and Mild cigars for hubby as a Christmas present but he already bought some when he went shopping for Christmas presents for me. Ah, why is it that hubby seems to be one step ahead of me always?

Fruity Macaroni Salad..

(Filipino-style macaroni salad)

When I was still in the Philippines, we always make sure we have this kind of macaroni salad during Christmas time and other special days like birthdays. But coming here in the US, I haven't made any of this up until now. Good thing I got the important ingredients at the Asian store the last time we went there.

Now that I finally made this, I can't wait to eat it all up. LOL! I missed the red and green "kaong" and the nata de coco. For me this is so good and this is one of my mother's favorite dessert too. Unfortunately, hubby does not like this at all. So I guess I will have all this yummy goodness to myself.

The Cook in Me...

>> Saturday, December 25, 2010

Oh boy! I was literally piled with gifts from hubby. From exercise equipments that I have been wanting, to perfumes, lotions, toiletries, purses and winter jackets.Hubby surely knows what to get for me even though I did not give him any hint or clue on what I want. This time hubby bought "beauty" gifts for me. Unlike last year when he bought "gadgety" gifts (new computer and the likes). The cook in me kinda wished that he also bought me some kitchen utensils for this Christmas. I guess he did not because he already did that last Christmas 2008 when he bought me a lot of small kitchen appliances and stuffs. But I still have my birthday and our anniversary to wait for. Maybe I should hint on that so I will have those as gifts. LOL!

Hubby Needs This...

Hubby has been wanting to get a new Nikon rifle scopes to replace his old and broken one. I wanted to get him one for Christmas but he insisted he will get it himself because he needs to check it out first. After a little bit more explanation, I agreed with him because he knows more about these things than I do. I guess I can say it's a guy thing. He's been wanting to get a new one even before his old one broke. He thinks it does not do the job well and he wants this Nikon one because it's better quality and he knows it will be great. So the other day, when he went shopping without me, he finally got a new one for himself. I'm glad he was satisfied with what he got.

Beautiful Eyes...

>> Friday, December 17, 2010

Aside from shopping, planning parties and house decorating, women like me are also busy pampering themselves these days. I see a lot of women in beauty salon having their nails and hair done. I guess ladies have to look their best for the holidays too. But with the busy schedules and the late night parties, I'm sure a lot of us will get dark circles and eye bags in our eyes. We don't want that to happen, right? So it's best to be prepared. There are some creams that we can use to treat and prevent this problem . You can go to www.undereyecream.net and check out the products that they are offering and find the one the will work for you.

Christmas Tree 2010...

>> Thursday, December 16, 2010

Finally done with my finishing touches! Hubby and I put this tree up a day before Thanksgiving. I know that may be too early for some. But I always love Christmas that's why I very excited about it. Also, I keep adding and changing my decors so putting it up early is a must.

Today I put more red bows on our tree and just thought of having a little pictorial with it. Of course, I have to play dress up too. So I tried on my new outfit that I bought from Forever21. This will be my Christmas outfit and I am happy that I fits perfectly and the color and style looked great. I must say, I really love our Christmas tree this year.

Pasta ala SassyChick...

>> Wednesday, December 8, 2010

I really miss eating Filipino-style pastas. But hubby is not much into pastas and when he cooks spaghetti, it's always American/Italian style. So today while hubby was at work, I decided to cook me some Filipino-style pasta for my lunch. I don't have Filipino hot dogs so I just settled to using Vienna sausage. Then I finely chopped some onions and the sweet-style sauce followed.

Dang! It was so good! I attacked that plateful of pasta with so much gusto and with an ice-cold glass of Coke, it was the best lunch ever! Too bad hubby does not like this kind of pasta. But that's a good thing I guess so I don't have to share. LOL!

On Life Insurance...

One of the most important thing to have here in the US is insurance. And I was amazed at just how many insurances a person can get. There's health insurance, property insurance, auto insurance and most important of all, life insurance. In fact, when it comes to life insurance, I know someone who got at least two different policies for those. This friend of ours wants to make sure that his loved ones are secure and protected when something happens to him. We really admire him for that. That's why hubby is also thinking about getting another policy that's why he was checking wholesale life insurance last night and checking for some quotes .

Asian Goodies & Foodies...

>> Sunday, December 5, 2010

Last  Saturday, hubby and I went to the Super Oriental Store for the second time. I needed to buy a few more goodies for some desserts that I'm planning to make. I was looking for some Filipino snacks but I did not find a lot there because it is mostly Chinese/Japanese/Korean stuffs. But I settled with a few items that I know I will like.

I found some dessicated coconuts that I am planning to make into coconut macaroons. I also got some frozen grated cassava which I will make into cassava cake. Then I also got me some ingredients for the Filipino-style macaroni salad that I'm planning to make for Christmas. I also got some bananas that I have been craving for. Now I can enjoy my favorite fried bananas at home. Thanks to hubby for bringing me to the Asian store!

we also dropped by my favorite restaurant; Cracker Barrel to eat my favorite daily special which is their Saturday chicken n' rice. Hubby ordered some cider pork roast for himself. Overall, it was a nice Saturday for us.

>> Wednesday, December 1, 2010

I guess we still have hangover from all the foods last Thanksgiving that hubby and I decided to make an apple pie. We never made one before and this will be our first time. We don't have a specific recipe so we went online and looked for a yummy-sounding apple pie recipe.

As usual, hubby is very choosy so I let him do the searching and he did all the baking too. But I went with him to the store to pick up the ingredients he needed. Thankfully, it turned out very good. I mean, really good. So next week we are making two apple pies again. YUM!

NOTE: I will share the recipe next time because I don't know where hubby put it.

Beautiful Eyes...

If you ask me, I would say that a person's eyes are the first thing that I get attracted to. When I talk to somebody, I want to look him/her in the eyes to see and communicate with them well. That's how I noticed that hubby got some wrinkles in his eyes already and I told him we should do something about it before it becomes worse. Hubby's daughter suggested that he use an anti wrinkle eye cream that she have tried and found effective. I know, she's too young to be using that kind of stuff. But you never know these days. So hubby will try this cream and hope to see great results.

In Search For New Face Cream...

For quite a while now, hubby has been using my quite expensive face cream. I told him that it is very effective and that I like the result I have seen after just a couple of weeks from using it. So he was convinced it is good so he started using it too. Unfortunately, it is now evident that we don't have the same reaction to this face cream because hubby is not happy with it.So now, I am asked by him to find some other face cream that he can use. He prefers natural face cream so that is what I am looking for. Ah, I hope I can find one that hubby will like.
