Oven-Baked Puto Cheese Recipe...

I was blog hopping the other day when I came across a blog with delicious-looking puto cheese in them. My mouth started to water and that's how the craving for this favorite Filipino snack/ dessert started. I know I have to eat some but how? I know there's a store somewhere that sells ready-to-bake versions of this but I don't know where and when I can get some. So I thought I will just try to make some myself. So I went online and searched for a simple to follow recipe and thankfully I found one. So here it is:


*** 2 3/4 cups cake flour
*** 1 1/4 cups white sugar
*** 2 tablespoon baking powder
*** 1/2 cup evaporated milk
*** 1 cup water
*** 2 eggs
*** 1 cup butter, softened


**Preheat oven to 375 F.

***Mix together the cake flour, sugar and baking powder. Pour in the water and evaporated milk and stir well. Mix in the eggs and butter.

***Pour the mixture into molds or muffin pans. Find a baking pan that your muffin pan will comfortably fit in. Pull the oven rack out a little (perhaps 1/4 out of the oven) and place the baking pan (with the muffin pan inside it) on the rack. Very carefully pour about 4 cups of hot tap water into the baking pan which holds the muffin pan. then very slowly and carefully slide the rack completely into the oven.

***Bake at 375 F for about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Be very careful not to burn your hands with the hot water or the steam as you take the muffins out of the oven.

***Top with slices of cheese. Serve and enjoy!

NOTE: You can wait for a few minutes before putting the sliced cheese on top so it will not melt completely.

ooh.. nia ra jud! hehehe.. kapoyan mn jud ko atong mag-steam2x pa oi.. hahaha.. tapolan jud ko'ng dako sis labi na ako ra isa magbuhat, kaya the easiest way akong gipangita og this is the answer.. heheh.. by the way sistah, kini bitaw butter -> unsa nga klase, salted or unsalted?
